LEGISLATIVE ACTION

RMAPIA actively is involved in legislative action including policies and procedures that benefit the public and our organizational members.

In accordance with HB 13-1225, effective January 1, 2014, all producers with a property or personal lines line of authority, who have a continuing education requirement, must complete three (3) hours of homeowner continuing education.

For your upcoming renewal, you are still required to complete twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education. However, three (3) of the twenty-four continuing education hours are required to be in homeowners. The requirement is as follows:

• Three (3) hours of homeowner;

• Three (3) hours of ethics; and

• Eighteen (18) hours property and casualty.

If you have not completed the required credits before your expiration date, you will not be able to renew your license. A producer’s failure to timely complete the required three (3) hours of homeowner continuing education credits will result in the termination of such license.

If you have completed your twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education and it does not include the required three (3) hours of homeowner continuing education credits you will not be able to renew your license until you have completed this additional requirement.
